Ideal system for every bacterial strain

Fermentation

Lactosan has three complete fermentation lines which are controlled by a process control system and can be fully sterilised. The plant has a NaOH line system for pH control, but can also be supplied with NH3, KOH or acid from external tanks. Aeration with air, N2 or special gas mixtures is possible at any time. Automatic CIP/SIP cleaning steps are performed after each production run.

Biotech

Fermenters with a maximum capacity of 15,000 litres are available at Lactosan Biotech. The production line consists of several pre-stage and main-stage fermenters, supplemented by media and harvesting tanks. All equipment is made of stainless steel and is controlled and monitored by a modern process control system.

Microbial Additives

The Microbial Additives facility has two completely separate fermentation lines with a maximum capacity of 50,000 litres of fermentation volume. Each production line consists of several pre and main stage fermenters, all made of stainless steel and fully sterilisable. Multiple dosing tanks allow time-controlled fed-batch production. An optimised process is developed for each bacterial strain The parameters of this strain-specific recipe are then programmed into the control system. This ensures consistently high production quality.

Pharma

A fermenter with a capacity of up to 1,000 litres is available in the pharmaceutical production line, supplemented by a media tank. Automated and validated CIP/SIP cleaning steps are performed after each production run. A GMP-compliant batch record is kept for each fermentation, supplemented by parameter data from the process control system and analytical values from the QC laboratory.

Freeze drying

The aim of freeze-drying is to obtain a dried, very water-soluble product that retains the properties of the original product after the addition of water.

Fluidised bed drying

In the Microbial Additives plant, it is possible to dry the bacterial concentrate in the fluidized bed plant as an alternative to freeze-drying.
